There is Little That Can Outshine the Natural Beauty of Flowers
The beauty of flowers and other natural plants is such that modern architects have found ways to actually incorporate interior plant growth into architecture. There’s a mall in San Diego where an entire wall has been made into a vertical garden. In fact, vertical gardening is a bit of a trend.Perhaps you don’t have the resources or wherewithal to transform an entire plane in your home such that it becomes a vertical garden. There are other things you can do, though; things that are far less expensive, and much more tangible. We’ll explore three ideas to help get the wheels turning in your mind’s imagination factory.
1. Flowers in Wreathes or “Daisy Chain” Configurations
A very common tactic in home decoration at this time of year is the common wreath. Wreaths of flowers that incorporate living flora can be exceptionally impacting. Now certainly, bouquets and flowers in a pot are also a fine idea. However, wreaths on a door, or giving color to an otherwise empty portion of the wall, can be a fine addition.
There are many crafty things that can be done with flowers, from pressing them under glass and hanging the result like a picture, to linking them together in daisy chains which are then hung similar to Christmas garland throughout a given area. Experiment with flowers used decoratively along these lines.
2. Potted Flowers Placed Strategically Throughout the Home
When it comes to potted plants, you can nurture them into a healthy bloom wherever you’d like; you just want to be smart about how often you water them. Don’t over-water, don’t under-water. Plant food is helpful. At any rate, find areas that could use a little greenery, and put a plant there.
3. Cut Flowers in Wall Sconces or Other “High” areas
Cut flower decoration is the most common, but there are variations in presentation a lot of people don’t think about. For example, do you have a wall sconce that should hold a lightbulb, but the lightbulb has burned out?
Maybe unscrew the dead bulb and put a vase with some potted flowers there. Certainly, you can put them in the middle of a table in a vase, that’s the norm. But you can do more.
The key is remembering, with cut flowers, that they must be replenished at intervals. The most robust bouquets will only last a few weeks to a month if you take perfect care of them, use plant food, and all that jazz.
Making Your Home Bloom
Floral décor is not the only option, but it’s one of the best. Cut flowers can be hung in wall sconces. They can be presented in a variety of different ways. You can put potted flowers in strategic places throughout the home as well. When it comes to unique configurations, wreaths and daisy chains like garlands at Christmas are also fine tactics.
At the end of the day, what you want to do is take stock of what your home looks like, what your resources are, and where the premises could use a little “color”. From there, have fun decorating.
